This Silence

It drips on me

this silence

through the cracks

in my solid ceiling

it seeps

leaving patterns

a tiny tracery

of unspoken words

like delicate fronds

on the cold hard concrete

of today

Time silvered dominos

topple, a tidal wave

of tiny dots

falling

and falling

and falling

until

once again

the empty room

the silence

me

Silence seems to have been the theme for today as I also wrote this - Silence

The flow creates a almost mourning rhythm, love it.

I think this is an absolutely beautiful poem. The visual in my head when reading this is wonderful. If I could do anything other than stick figures I would love to paint, draw, are create the picture. I love it.

It depends on the situation. But silence can be wonderful. I especially like the "inner" silence. It can be a very positive feeling. Kind of nothing bothers me.

Hi Michaela,

I love silence too, in fact most of my day is spent in silence with just the little interruptions of everyday background sounds - but the silence that prompted this writing was a strange slighly surreal silence, somehow it felt different as though it had more weight, more meaning.

Good to see you. x

"It dri[ps on me this silence through the cracks in my solid ceiling" is absolutely brilliant. You inspire! The mood, the way the poem is placed on the page, all perfection. Wow.

I like this a lot. Sometimes to ME, silence is the loudest sound!

Silence is good in small doses.

Beautifully captured.

The more of your poems I read, the more I like their cobweb fragility - you have a light touch with your words. Thank you . :)
