Porous

I brush off the past as soon as it lands
a quick sweep of the hand,
a sharp flick of the wrist
and it has gone.
I don't let it settle, I don't give it time
I keep my eyes turned forward
I don't look back.

It is only later
in the quiet times
that I realise
that it has been
seeping unnoticed
in through
my skin.

'in the quiet times ... seeping unnoticed' so true, and so very well written.

The past does tend to seep in and sneak up on one without notice doesn't it? Your words are most definitely felt.

The past does have a way of catching up with us when we least expect it.

"Seeping unnoticed in my skin"...goes well with the title.

Great job!

Ah, if only brushing the past off would stop the ravage of time.

This speaks directly to my heart, having had a similar problem with this kind of dust mote past.
