Hunted

the grey wind stalks me
shadowing my moves
with endless grace

my pack is empty
I've nothing left
but turquoise

and there are
nine black dogs
trailing my scent

Brilliant!

I used to idolize Rita Coolidge, who always wore lots of turquoise. The black dogs never got *her*, so you may slip past them, too. ;-)

A surprising piece from you....a bit dark in overall tone....an unexpected ending.

Deborah, thanks. ;-)

Fireblossom, I love your comment.
and I also love the dogs and as I move I just drop the food they like to eat, it keeps them well fed and it keeps me travelling light... and turquoise is my favourite colour. ;-) )

Hi Charles, good to see you. :-)
Darkness is in the interpretation maybe, but I see your point!

Like Shay has spoken, turquoise will let you slip passed....this is a captivating piece Susannah! :-)

A rather haunting feeling to this poem. I love the "grey wind stalks me", and the nine dogs following. Good one, Susannah.

Thanks Sherry. :-)

I like the entire piece. It feels hunted, if not haunted on some level. I've been doing several pieces of Dead Man poem form, but making them Dead Woman poems. I think you might do very well with the form. Your images are very stark and evoke a lot of feelings.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks very much for your comment it is appreciated.

I shall have to look up the Dead Man poem form as it isn't something I've heard of.

Good to see you.
