Writers Block

The words still refuse to come.

Sitting stout and rigid they wait

gloating, their flexibility forsaken

poetry put to bed and forgotten.

Do words get old? stiff and arthritic

afraid to move for fear of falling

and fracturing the fragile bones

that once allowed them to dance.

Brilliantly written!

Words sometimes do elude. And so, when they are available, one must agree to dance along.

Your words (and your Muses) need a vaction once in awhile too, y'know!

Take a break, go do something you've never done before, something you've always wanted to do, no matter how insubstantial it seems.

Your Muses will sing again soon.

I have lulls sometimes, but I find that when I do come back, it's stronger than ever.

The words are sleeping. Shhhh! When they wake, they will love you all the more, Susannah. ;-)

Su, to be able to write is akin to living in God. The muse is strongest when you are running towards or away from Love. In between are the vacation spots. Worry Not :)

Good to see you Rajesh, thanks for visiting. :-)

I know that feeling! But may I say? - the elegance of these words dancing on the page belies the writer's writers block. :) Love it!

Lady Nyo, thank you. :-)

It is good to see you here.

Julia Cameron says we are to regularly take ourselves out on an Artist's date. Go somewhere new, commit gluttony of the eye. It works. And your poem is decidedly not Writer's Block. The Block is only a feeling. The poem is the reality and the fact,

I think that words never get brittle and old - they are just waiting for the writers and the poets to visit so they can conjure up magic together once again - whenever (and wherever) it might happen.

Your poem expressed this so well.

Do words getting old? Wow! Probably not but maybe what today seems important the next day one could think, no, it's not important!?

Micheala, good to see you. x
