Punctured by the broken promises
and ferocious regrets of yesterday
I hurl my words at the darkness
a never ending stream of verbs
juggling the intricate moments
I am no longer bent double
with some perceived modesty
I am lithe and dangerous
loping along on wolves feet
filled with a shapeless longing
No longer content to sit up there
on that warped and crooked pedestal
that you placed me on, way back
long before I learned
how to scream

Better out than in!! Liked the wolf image.
Whoa, this is really primal and powerful and quite WONDERFUL. I love the loping along on wolves feet, the coming off the pedestal and the learning to scream. Oh yeah, kiddo - I am Woman, hear me roar! Fantastic poem. I so love it!
Very powerful and emotive, Susannah.
It's funny how we grow into ourselves and feel more comfortable as we get older.
Ah, the damage done to us by trying to live up to expectations. Thought-provoking poem.

Wow! I enjoyed this.
One would think that a puncture would deflate you, but very often we rise up, a few steps higher and that "little prick" becomes but a faded battle scar.
Absolutely BRILLIANT!!
L O V E ..I T ..:)) moved and touched! thank you for this amazing write..:)
never ending stream of verbs and shapeless longing...longing can be so shapeless - right? we feel it's there somehow but we just can't say where exactly it starts and ends...really dig this
WOW... This is a great one shot. Love and Light, Sender
Scream on, Susannah... howl at the moon, as is your right.
Nice One Shot!
Relatable, and true to the spirit of a spit-out, venom-laced scream. Good work.
A great poem.. What a perfect forward to a Novel?

I love pieces where people personify themselves as animals, nicely done. Maybe we can be mutual admirers.

Micheala, good to see you. x
sometimes i fear my need to scream... will it disturb the sleeping needs into flight? what then will happen? if all my needs seek freedom?
Maya, I really understand where you are coming from with that comment. It is like opening the floodgates, once you start you have lost control. I used to be like that with tears, thinking if I started I would never stop. Great comment.
Good to see you. x
