You made the dreams
of great escapes and
daring adventures
seem plausable.
You willingly gave
your attention
to my outlandish plans
and hare brained schemes.
You never once tried
to taint my enthusiasm
with the stinging sense
of what life held in store.
You believed in me
and let me run wild
clutching the ideas
that would save me.
You kept me from
being buried alive
under a reality that
was too heavy to bear.
I thank you for that.

I don't know who prompted such wonderful words from you, but they're my kinda people. :)
Yes, mine too. :-)
Thanks for popping in Eric.
Beautiful. I wish more people were like that.
Very beautiful, Susannah. Am wondering if this was to your mother. If so, she was a very wise woman:)
What an unusual and interesting blog. I found your poems inspiring and rewarding. I am so glad you visited me and so led me to yours.
Fireblossom, yeah me too. :-)
Sherry thank you for your kind words .:-)
Though I love my Mother dearly, it wasn't for her. The poem just sort of came out and after your comment, I really thought about who it was for - and it seems strange to say, but I realised that it was part of myself (my inner self? my soul?) that I was talking to and thanking.
