Darkness wraps around me like a cloak
as I sit before my open window
and watch the day leave
Silhouetted against the twilight
my guardian trees dance
fluid in the fading light
Trunks meander into branches
that twist and turn upward
toward the waiting moon
Until finally blackness reigns
and I am left to close the window
and turn on the light
.

That is such a peaceful picture of a lovely evening, Susannah. :-)
So beautiful, tranquil, peaceful..........I felt I was the one sitting there in the semi-darkness.......lovely.
Beautifully written as always :o)
The visual imagery is very powerful in this poem. I like the third stanza that describes the trees particularly.
The dusk, beautifully captured. Great going Sue.
I love the line "darkness wraps around me like a cloak"....you have such a wonderful talent Susannah! :-)
Darkness can be a comfort in many ways. I like the way you have described it here.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments, they are much appreciated. :-)
Good to see you all. x
Beautiful and poignant imagery, Susannah!
Thanks askcherlock. :-)
Good to see you. x
Love this. Though I have to say I'd leave the light off. There's something beautiful about a creeping night that should be allowed to remain with us longer.
Good to see you Karuna, thanks for popping in. :-)
